Abstract
Purpose – This community service aims to empower the community in Alasgung Village by mobilizing existing socio-religious assets, namely the talents in Pildacil (Young Preacher Competition) and Rebana art, through the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach. This program is designed to enhance skills, strengthen community identity, and encourage the regeneration of future preachers and Islamic artists.
Methods – This service employed the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) method. To evaluate its impact, a mixed-methods approach was used. Quantitative data were collected through questionnaires distributed to community representatives, while qualitative data were gathered through Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) and participatory observation during the activities in Alasgung Village, Sugihwaras District.
Findings – The results show that Alasgung Village possesses strong socio-cultural assets, including 8 active Madrasah Diniyah (Madin) with over 300 students and 9 Rebana art groups with 110 members. The "Alasgung Religious Festival 2025" program successfully mobilized these assets, strengthening networks among religious institutions and increasing the self-confidence of the younger generation. The quantitative evaluation indicated that all 11 program components were rated "Excellent," with index scores above 85%.
Implication – This service provides insights for local governments and communities on how to improve the effectiveness of asset-based empowerment programs. These findings can be applied on a broader scale by establishing the festival as an official annual village agenda, supported by allocations from the Village Budget (APBDes) to ensure sustainability.
Originality – This service is unique as it integrates the ABCD approach with a community-focused religious and cultural festival to address the strategic issue of talent regeneration. This study demonstrates how mobilizing existing religious and artistic assets can foster a sense of community ownership and promote sustainable development from within.
